The Fellowship started in 1983 with the goal of serving Salt Lake City and the world. By the grace of God, we endevour to follow Jesus and to be rooted in His love. We value scripture highly and wrestle with how best to apply it to current issues and challenges in our lives and culture. We believe every believer is a priest before God and there are no restrictions on who can minister to God or to His people. We do not believe that certain parts of ministry are reserved for clergy, or for men, or for the educated or for the wealthy. Should you attend with us for a period of time, you will see our Sunday talks are given by a variety of people: staff members, others in our church community, visiting speakers; men and women.
WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT…
there is one God, the Creator of all things, who is infinitely perfect and eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ is true God and true man, his life and death demonstrate the selfless love of God for all people. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life and died on the cross for the sins of all people. He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is now at the right hand of the Father as our High Priest and advocate.
humankind was created in the image of God, but fell into sin and as a result is eternally separated from God. By personally accepting the sacrifice Jesus has provided by his death on the cross, we obtain salvation. This includes libery from death and the devil, forgiveness for sins, reconciliation with God, adoption as sons and daughters of God, and the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit as a seal signifying God’s embracing of us as his children.
any action of the church should always be out of love God and love for our neighbor as its origin and basis. Good works are correctly expected of those who have obtained salvation, but they do not provide, supplement, or in any other way add to or change that salvation.
we hold to the spiritual unity of all believers in Christ. The church comprises all those who have accepted the sacrifice of Jesus and are thus adopted into the family of God. Jesus Christ is the lord and head of this church. Every local congregation has the right under Christ to decide and govern its own affairs.
Baptism and the Lord's Supper
water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by believers during the present age. These are not, however, to be regarded as a means of salvation.
Baptism of the Holy Spirit
we believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the present-day manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit (1 Cor 12 and 14; Rom 12) which are in addition to the seal of the Holy Spirit at salvation. Further, we are admonished to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit.
the Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible word of God (2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21). We believe that the only criterion by which the Bible is to be interpreted is Jesus Christ.
Satan and his demons are real and are in rebellion against God, and seek to hinder the advance of the kingdom of God.
humankind was given stewardship of the earth under God’s authority, and at the fall that stewardship was lost to Satan. Jesus has reclaimed those rights by his death and resurrection with power. The great commission commands believers to establish God’s rule on earth. This includes bringing the news of salvation, making disciples, ministering freedom from demonic, and healing the sick. (Mat 28: 18-20, Mk 16:15-18)
